Android/Google Voice Commands no long working with Spotify

My Question or Issue

Up until yesterday my google voice assistant, both on my phone and when using Android Auto was working perfectly with Spotify.

Not sure when exactly things stopped working but now when I ask Google to do anything in Spotify, either on my phone or through Auto, it thinks for a while, then gives me a Something went Wrong error.

If trying on my phone it will actually open Spotify, but nothing will happen, then after the Something Went Wrong voice error it will suggest trying again with Spotify open.

I have tried the following:

Making sure Spotify and Android/Google apps are up to date

Unlinking Spotify from my Google account and relinking

Cleaning Spotify cache

Uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify

Restarting my phone 

Interestingly, if I ask Google the exact same questions at home through my Google Nest/Nest Audio, it works perfectly.

Only fails on my phone or via Android Auto.

In the last week or so (starting around 2/20), voice commands no longer work when trying to control Spotify while using Android Auto. When trying any sort of command, the reply is "Something went wrong; please open up your Spotify app and try again", but the app doesn't show anything in particular.

I can still use the microphone on my iPhone but my dad can’t use it on his android. It’s weird. He’s been asking my he can’t use the mic anymore for a while. My mic is part of my keyboard idk if that makes a difference.

My Question or Issue

When using android auto, I press the microphone to search and it just beeps twice at me but doesn't search. The rainbow colored lines never come up to indicate that it is waiting for my voice input. This issue is intermittent and sometimes I can get it to search just fine. I have tried reinstalling android auto, configuring the assistant again, but nothing has fixed it.

My Question or Issue

For about the past year, whenever I ask Google Assistant / Android Auto to shuffle a playlist, it repeats my query back to me (e.g. "Playing your Spotify playlist Singing"), then returns the error "Sorry, something went wrong. When you're ready, give it another try." and then does nothing. This used to work properly back in 2024-ish.

Additionally, if I ask the assistant to "Play Playlist Singing" instead of asking to shuffle, then it will play an unrelated internet playlist from Spotify that is not mine with a similar title.

Note that my personal playlists I am trying to play are public, and that the voice commands work correctly with Google's own YouTube Music.
