Connect stuttering when problem device isn't the one playing?

Hello,
I am using a Win11 pc with a BT dongle in order to connect to my soundbar, which works well.
I have a droid phone, which I sometimes use for volume control or skip on my pc as I am moving around the house for convenience, so I don't have to keep walking back to get to the controls.
However, when I move (phone), the music starts to lag, skip and stutter a lot.
I understand that a bad connection will obviously make music lag, but I'm playing from my computer. I only use my phone to control what is playing sometimes. It has to sit right next to my pc for stuff not to lag. It shouldn't be trying to play from my phone. How come the connection starts lagging when I simply carry my phone with me?

The phone's spotify disconnects very quickly when something is paused. Or just randomly. But that could just be an Android annoyance.

Hey @user-removed,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

The phone itself should have a stable network connection for Connect to work flawlessly. Could you try some network troubleshooting or changing the connection with a mobile one to check if this is indeed network related?

If you're using a home Wi-Fi network, we suggest a router reset for a starter.

Keep us posted on how that went,

Cheers!

Hey Dian, thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately my phone uses Wi-fi, as I run out of data when I use spotify with mobile data incredibly quickly. My other devcies tend to have a wired connection. My wi-fi is decent enough to be stable without any drops, at least, when I play a game or use the browser.

Does this mean I cannot use my phone to press next/previous despite my computer playing the music? Or have my phone 'online' on spotify as my computer is playing?

Hey @user-removed,

Thanks for getting back to us!

As @Dian suggested before, restarting the router and synching up the devices again might fix the issue. Would you mind trying this and sharing the results with us?

On another note, did you tested it with a different account? If a friend or a family member has an account with us, it would be great if they could log in onto your device and test if the app behaves the same way.

We'll be on the lookout for your answer and we'll see what we can suggest next. Let us know if there's anything else we can do for you in the meantime 🙂
